TAP Alerts & Alarms
Short Answer: TAP Kiln Controllers include Setpoint Alerts and Hold Alerts for each step of a firing schedule.
TAP Controllers include options for Setpoint Alerts and Hold Alerts. Setpoint Alerts let you know when a specific temperature has been reached. Hold Alerts let you know when a hold time is about to expire.
These alerts can be turned on/off for each step of a specific firing schedule. And you can decide whether you want to receive these alerts from your controller unit or as push notifications on TAP Kiln Control Mobile (or both!)

Both alerts and alarms generate visual and audible notifications on your controller (as well as push notifications to your phone via the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app) to inform you about the status of your kiln, your controller, and/or the status of your current firing schedule.
So, what’s the difference?
Alerts are user-defined, meaning you set the parameters for an alert to be generated. You can use alerts to keep you informed about specific conditions you want to keep track of – such as when a setpoint temperature has been reached or a hold time is about to expire.
Alarms are controller-defined, meaning the controller determines the parameters for an alarm to be generated. Alarms let you know when an unexpected condition has occurred. These include conditions such as the kiln exceeding maximum allowable temperature or failing to cool.
