Whether you’re wondering how to get started, if you can upgrade your current controller to a TAP Digital Controller, or have specific questions about functionality, we’re here to help. Below you’ll find the answers to common user questions to get you started.
No, the TAP Controller can only be monitored and controlled from a single TAP Kiln Control Mobile user account. If you would like to monitor one kiln, create one user account and share the password amongst users. Multiple users can be logged in simultaneously. This is a great feature to use in a studio environment if students would like to check on their project status.
No, there is no Desktop or Web-Based application. All TAP Controller remote monitoring and control must be completed through the TAP Kiln Control Mobile App on iOS or Android.
Ensure that your phone or tablet is configured to allow Notifications for the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app.
If the problem persists after confirming the setting, delete and re-install the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app and acknowledge/accept notifications when first opened.
TAP connects to an SDS Industries server. The Mobile App connects to the same SDS Industries server. The database on the server is updated with data from the TAP controller. The server sends data to the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app, when requested. The server also transmits commands to the TAP Controller, when directed by the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app. The TAP controller is not accessible through a local network by navigating to the kilns IP.
This error generally means the server has reached a maximum capacity limit. As we continue to scale up, this issue may arise from time to time. We are continually monitoring and improving the service with the growth in our customer base. If the issue persists for more than 24 hours, please contact SDS Industries.
A UID is a unique identifier associated with the TAP Controller. It is used as a way to address the controller and make sure that the right data is going to the right place.
The UID can be found on the TAP Controller by navigating to Menu>Settings>Network
Settings > Network, select the Wireless tab, select your preferred wireless network, and press “Connect to Network.” Enter your password, if applicable. When the controller returns to the Status tab, power off the controller, and then power back on. Recheck connection status in the TAP Kiln Control Mobile App.
